Six New Sexual Assault Lawsuits Filed Against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs
|New lawsuits filed Monday in Manhattan federal court accuse Sean “Diddy” Combs of raping women, sexually assaulting men, and molesting a 16-year-old boy.
Two women identified only as Jane Does and four men listed as John Does filed civil suits that describe alleged incidents with Combs, 54, from 1995 through 2021.
One John Doe, a North Carolina resident who had dreams of making it in the entertainment industry, claims Combs groped him at age 16 during a 1998 white party hosted by the rapper in the Hamptons.
“The press conference and 1-800 number that preceded today’s barrage of filings were clear attempts to garner publicity,” Combs’ attorneys said in a statement on Monday about the lawsuits.
“Mr. Combs and his legal team have full confidence in the facts, their legal defenses, and the integrity of the judicial process. In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone—adult or minor, man or woman,” the statement concluded.
After Buzbee’s press conference about the 120 alleged victims on October 2, Erica Wolff, an attorney for Combs, told Newsweek in a statement, “As Mr. Combs’ legal team has emphasized, he cannot address every meritless allegation in what has become a reckless media circus.”
“That said, Mr. Combs emphatically and categorically denies as false and defamatory any claim that he sexually abused anyone, including minors. He looks forward to proving his innocence and vindicating himself in court, where the truth will be established based on evidence, not speculation.”
Combs is being held in the Special Housing Unit, removed from the general population, at the notoriously rough Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. He has been denied bail on three different occasions.
Details of Six New Lawsuits
The six lawsuits are the first from a group of 120 accusers being represented by Texas-based attorney Tony Buzbee.
One Jane Doe suing Combs claims that in 2004, he raped her in a locked hotel room after inviting her and a friend to a party. She alleges Combs gave them drinks, instructed them to snort cocaine, and later forced her friend to perform oral sex on him. According to the woman, who was a college freshman at the time, Combs threatened to have them both killed if they didn’t comply.
Another Jane Doe accuses Combs of attacking and raping her in a bathroom in 2005 during a party for the late rapper The Notorious B.I.G.’s music video, One More Chance. She claims that Combs invited her into the bathroom under the pretext of a private conversation, and then began kissing her without consent. When she tried to resist, he allegedly slammed her head against the wall, causing her to fall. She says Combs hit her again as she attempted to escape and proceeded to rape her. Afterward, he allegedly adjusted his clothes and warned her, “You better not tell anyone, or you will disappear.”
A John Doe also filed a lawsuit, claiming that while working as a security guard at Combs’ Hamptons white party in 2006, he was given a drink he believes was spiked with a drug, making him feel extremely sick. He alleges that Combs then pushed him into a van, restrained him, and sexually assaulted him.
In additional lawsuits filed Monday, Combs is accused of forcing a man to perform oral sex on him in the stockroom of Macy’s flagship store in Manhattan in 2008 and sexually assaulting another man at a party in October 2021. The latter man, who suspects his drink was drugged, recalls being assaulted by multiple men and distinctly remembers seeing Combs naked above him during the assault.
Macy’s department store and the Marriott hotel chain are also named as co-defendants in the lawsuits.
A spokesperson for Marriott tells Newsweek that they have not yet seen the complaint and have no further comment.
Newsweek has contacted Macy’s for comment.
More Lawsuits Expected
In an October 2 press conference, Buzbee said the allegations will claim “violent sexual assault or rape, facilitated sex with a controlled substance, dissemination of video recordings, sexual abuse of minors.”
“The biggest secret in the entertainment industry that really wasn’t a secret at all, has finally been revealed to the world. The wall of silence has now been broken, and victims are coming forward,” Buzbee said during a press conference.
“Our team has had at this point more than 3,285 individuals contact us from people claiming to have been victimized by Sean Combs. We will expose the enablers who enabled this conduct behind closed doors. We will pursue this matter no matter who the evidence implicates,” Buzbee added.
“It’s a long list already, but because of the nature of this case, we are going to make sure damn sure we are right,” Buzbee said. “These names will shock you.”
He said of the 120 alleged victims that 60 are men and 60 are women.
“Our youngest victim is nine years old. We have an individual who is 14 years old. We have one who is 15,” Buzbee said.
Combs was arrested and charged on September 16 in a three-count Indictment with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty.
