Evil Dead Burn is the name of the next Evil Dead film, as confirmed by its director/co-writer Sébastien Vaniček.

Posting on his Instagram, Vaniček teased the first page of the in-progress script, which lists the film’s official title. To remove all doubt, at the bottom of the script it reads ‘based on The Evil Dead by Sam Raimi.’

“I told the studio that I wanted to make a nasty film, a film that hurts, from which you come away tested,” Vaniček told Konbini back in February 2024. “I’m going to put all the horror I have inside, it will be cathartic, and if I haven’t ruined my career and I can continue to make films behind it, I will move on to something other than horror!”

French filmmaker Vaniček only has one feature film to his name, Infested. Released in 2023 and available on Shudder and Prime Video, it follows the residents of a French apartment fending off an army of deadly spiders.

It was enough to get him noticed by Warner Bros., who is releasing Evil Dead Burn in 2026. Not a straight sequel to the 2023 horror, it’s one of two planned follow-ups set to expand the Evil Dead universe.

Francis Galluppi (The Last Stop in Yuma County) is writing and directing the as-yet-untitled second Evil Dead movie. Reportedly an original story, the film will presumably release following Evil Dead Burn.

The first Evil Dead released in 1981 and stars Bruce Campbell as one of five college students who clash against a legion of demons and spirits in an isolated cabin in the woods. The most recent entry, Evil Dead Rise, stars Lily Sullivan and Alyssa Sutherland as two sisters trapped in a high-rise apartment as their family is possessed by supernatural terrors.
