Anyone trying to watch 28 Days Later is running into a problem: it doesn’t appear to be on any streaming platforms, anywhere.

Not only that, but you can’t even buy it, whether a digital download or physical disc. So, how can you watch it? There’s a ray of light if you’re hoping to check out Danny Boyle’s 2002 zombie horror ahead of the release of its sequel, 28 Years Later.

Sony recently added a new website page letting you “sign up and get notified when 28 Days Later will be available to preorder on digital.” In other words, Sony is working on a digital release right now, and it won’t be long before it’s available.

The bad news is, despite the digital release, 28 Days Later still likely won’t be available to stream on video-on-demand platforms as part of your subscription package, so don’t expect to see it on the likes of Prime Video or Netflix. Instead, it seems you’ll have to buy Sony’s new digital version outright.

It’s a bizarre case that a popular film staring one of the most beloved actors working today in Cillian Murphy just flat-out isn’t available to watch anywhere, especially given its second sequel, 28 Years Later, is releasing June 2025.

28 Days Later follows a bike courier (Murphy) who wakes up in a London hospital and discovers a city overrun by zombies. 28 Years Later is set almost three decades after the outbreak, and charts how the ‘rage virus’ has evolved. It stars Ralph Fiennes, Jodie Comer, And Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
