Did ‘Yellowstone’ Just End for Good? Cast Speaks Out
|The hit Western drama that took the world by storm has come to an end, but some of its cast have hinted not all is over in the Yellowstone world.
The second part of the Paramount Network show’s fifth and final season aired on Sunday as several of the cast bid farewell to their characters.
One of the stars, Luke Grimes who plays Kayce Dutton, took to Instagram to acknowledge the end of Yellowstone.
“End of an era. Goodbye Kayce. You are a better man than I. To my Yellowstone family, thank you for the experience of a lifetime,” Grimes wrote alongside a photo of his character sitting by a fire.
Grimes’ onscreen wife, Kelsey Asbille, also marked the end of Yellowstone.
“One episode left. To share the screen with Luke over these past seven years was such a dream,” she wrote on an Instagram post next to a photo of her character Monica and Kayce standing together at the eponymous cattle ranch where the show is set.
But Kelly Reilly, who plays the scathing Beth Dutton, did not confirm Sunday’s episode was the last ever. Her character was rumored to be getting a spin-off series, but it is yet to be confirmed.
She posted a teaser clip ahead of the final episode with a lengthy caption reflecting on her time starring in Yellowstone.
“Hi, I’m so deep into another role at the moment… but across the pond the finale is happening tonight of the show. Whatever the future holds this is the ending of the show we have been making for the past seven years,” Reilly wrote on Instagram.
“Words cannot convey how I feel about the people I got to work and create with over the seasons. I have made true life long friends. The support from the crew and the trust and dedication of the cast,” she continued.
The actress said portraying Beth Dutton “changed me” and “challenged me in every way possible.”
“Thank you the audience we made it for , for being on this journey with us . We really cared about making something special for you all … Enjoy tonight ,get your tissues and your [tumbler glass emoji],” Reilly concluded.
Reilly’s on-screen husband, actor Cole Hauser, teased a potential spin-off.
“I think America has spoken. They still love the show,” he told People. “There’s obviously just tons of people that every Sunday get together with their families, and we give them the experience of taking ’em out of their own living rooms and putting ’em in Montana and entertaining them. And I think ultimately it’s just that simple.”
“We will see what happens over the next year or so and we’ll see what’s next,” Hauser added. “Hopefully, we can continue to get in people’s living rooms and entertain them the way we have over the last seven years.”
Newsweek contacted Paramount+ representatives by email on Monday morning.
Grimes told Newsweek in November that the fifth season was Yellowstone’s last, but he will always have part of the show with him after moving to Montana with his family. The show is set in Montana on the fictional cattle ranch, which is run by the powerful Dutton family.
“I moved up to where we shoot the show four years ago, and it’s been the best place I’ve ever lived. I think it just suits me, I sleep better there,” Grimes said. “If you would have told me in season one that I was going to move there, I would’ve figured you were crazy. But then it just got inside me.”
