‘How Time Flies’: Neil Patrick Harris, 51, Shares Photo of His and David Burtka’s ‘Beautiful’ 14-Year-Old Twins

Neil Patrick Harris has fans buzzing over the recent photo he shared of his twins, which he posted after speaking about how it feels to parent teenagers earlier this year.

On November 29, Hollywood star Neil Patrick Harris, 51, shared a Thanksgiving photo of him, his famous husband David Burtka, 49, and their twins Harper Grace and Gideon Scott Burtka-Harris. Upon seeing the image, which he shared after celebrating the twins’ birthday in October, netizens marveled at the resemblance Harper and Gideon share with their parents.

The beautiful family portrait displayed all four standing next to each other to pose for the camera in The Polo Bar (a Ralph Lauren restaurant). Neil sported a chic cardigan, which he paired with a dark-colored shirt and chinos, while David donned a smart waistcoat, matching pants, formal shirt, and tie.

Gideon and Harper also dressed up, with the young lady wearing jeans and a black cardigan top, and her brother rocking a cozy jacket, white shirt, and chinos.

“Thanksgiving, 2024. So much to be thankful for in our lives: our health, our wisdom, our family. Our community. Our friends, our support systems. Our followers. It’s been quite the year, and Thanksgiving allows me time for not only reflection, but appreciation [sic],” began Neil in his caption.

The 51-year-old continued, “And gratitude. And thanks. I hope you’re able to take a minute today and focus on what’s good, what’s working… and to thank those who work hard to make things better. Happy Thanksgiving. Xo, N 🦃❤️.”

Instagram followers who saw the heartwarming post flocked to the comment section with reactions. Many spotlighted the physical similarity shared between the parents and their kids, with some noting how Neil and David each have a carbon copy.

“I know he’s always said he doesn’t want to find out which twin is biologically his, but looking at this photo, it’s blatantly obvious which one is 😂,” remarked a netizen. Another opined, “Harper looks like Neil, Gideon looks like David .. happy thanksgiving [sic] y’all ❤️.”

Echoing the sentiment, a fan penned, “They each have a twin 😍,” while another observed, “They are the perfect mix of the two of you.” More resemblance comments ensued, with yet another admirer expressing, “Wow you each have a mini me [sic]! They are beautiful!”

For many, it seems like it was just yesterday when the “How I Met Your Mother” star took to X to announce the birth of Harper and Gideon. “Babies!! On 10/12, Gideon Scott and Harper Grace entered the Burtka-Harris fold. All of us are happy, healthy, tired, and a little pukey,” shared the doting dad on October 15, 2010.

Fourteen years later, Neil and David’s twins turned 14 years old on October 12. To commemorate their special day, Neil shared a beautiful photo of the two sitting on couches at home with dogs in their laps and balloons placed in between them.

“I have never been more proud of anything in my entire life, and I suspect I never will. My husband David and I marvel at their maturity, are wowed by their warmth, chuffed by their charm. We love them both unconditionally, and their hugs fill us with life,” captioned the proud dad.

He went on to quip how he and David would never let Harper and Gideon know about the aforementioned sentiments, as “they’d recoil or leverage it to their advantage.”

Taking the joke further, Neil mentioned that neither twin has an Instagram account, so they’d never find out either way. “Happy Birthday, Harper and Gideon. You’re both amazeballs,” concluded the dad of two.

Months prior to sharing the birthday post, the loving parents gave People magazine the scoop concerning their experience with raising teenagers. At the time, Harper and Gideon were 13 years old.

After boasting about how “great” his kids are, Neil divulged, “They’re city kids, they live in Manhattan, New York, so I find them fairly mature […] but it’s nice to see them navigate the world now that they’re teenagers with some sense of knowledge and sense of self.”

The “Uncoupled” actor also spoke about how hard he and David work to instill values in Harper and Gideon so the two can go out into the world and experience life. “Very proud of them,” swooned Neil.

Other topics discussed during the interview include how disciplined Neil Patrick Harris and David’s twins are, with Neil noting how both are “at such a rigorous school,” and when they come home, they dive straight into homework. However, he did mention that the twins also have playdates and sleepovers.

Additionally, Neil and David are dubbed as the “coolest parents out of all the friend groups.” In the same interview, both parents spoke about their twins’ interests, like Gideon’s affinity for the entertainment space.
