‘Two-tier justice!’ Sarah Pochin fumes as father jailed for social media post ‘CRUSHED’ by the system – ‘Attack on free speech!’
|Reform UK MP Sarah Pochin has revealed that one of her constituents has been sentenced to 28-months in prison for posting on Facebook, describing the case as evidence of “two-tier justice” in Britain.
The Reform MP for Runcorn & Helsby drew parallels with other recent cases, suggesting the harsh sentence demonstrated politically motivated prosecution of social media posts.
The man was arrested on a Saturday after posting two messages on Facebook. One post stated “we need to protest, nothing more”.
Speaking to GB News, Pochin said: “What I don’t accept at all is that this type of offence is being dealt with by a 30-odd month sentence. I’ve got another resident in the same situation he got 31-months in prison.
She added: “This type of offence should be dealt with in the community, through rehabilitation send them on a course that advises you not to post this kind of thing on Facebook.
“The gentleman I saw today had no previous criminal record. To get a 30-month sentence for a first offence is unheard of.
“This is exactly the sort of case that should be dealt with in the community, as this Government is suggesting.
“And by the way, this Government is letting out people like convicted paedophiles who haven’t even gone to prison.
“Not only that, I can give you the example of the Labour MP I replaced. He repeatedly punched a constituent on the floor, spent two nights in jail, and was then let out with a community sentence.
“This is two-tier justice by an establishment that wants to make a big deal about this, protecting illegal immigrants, and calling people like me racist. It’s got to stop. And the only way to stop it is to get this Government out.
“But this shouldn’t be political. I’ve been here. We’re dealing with real people, real lives. This resident has a nine-year-old son who has been deeply affected by what’s happened to his dad.
“It’s got to stop, It’s two-tier justice.”

GB News host Martin Daubney asked: “Do you think free speech in this country is at a tipping point?”
“I absolutely do. In fact, I was on a television programme and we were having exactly that conversation. I said to the host, “You and I will soon not even be able to discuss this.”
“We were talking about the illegal immigrants coming across on the boats, and I said, “Soon we won’t be able to have this conversation without both of us being arrested and likely put somewhere like this place and made to serve time.”
“That’s what’s happening under this Government. Angela Rayner is bringing in laws to stop free speech. That won’t happen under a Reform Government.
“It’s ridiculous. You can’t even go down to the pub and have a political conversation anymore for fear of being reported and arrested. That’s exactly what happened to this resident he was in his home, on a Saturday afternoon.”
