Trace Cyrus Calls Katy Perry “Lame” and Accuses Her of Copying Miley Cyrus’ Career

Trace Cyrus isn’t holding back when it comes to Katy Perry. In a scathing Instagram rant posted Friday, the Metro Station frontman blasted Perry for allegedly copying his sister Miley Cyrus’ career moves — and mocked her recent space flight as a desperate publicity stunt.

“I first knew Katy Perry and her team were lame as f–k when her career was first dying,” Trace wrote. “And they were like, ‘Hm, what can we do? Well, what worked for Miley?’” According to him, the answer was copying Miley’s viral pixie cut moment. “She cut her hair off and it broke the internet… We should do that with you, Katy.”

Miley famously debuted her blond pixie in 2012, while Perry adopted a similar look in 2017. Trace says the parallel wasn’t a coincidence. And he didn’t stop at the haircut. He also took aim at Perry’s attempts to shift toward hip-hop, calling out her 2017 track Bon Appétit featuring Migos — which came years after Miley’s Bangerz era collaborations with Wiz Khalifa, Juicy J, and Mike WiLL Made-It.

“Guess what? It didn’t f–king work,” Trace continued. “Then they just tried some EDM song or some s–t because EDM’s hot… didn’t f–king work. And now they’re going to send your ass to space.”

The rant comes as Perry continues to face backlash for her recent Blue Origin flight, where she joined five other women in what was marketed as a history-making mission. Instead, the trip has sparked memes, criticism from brands like Wendy’s, and even shade from Martha Stewart — who posted a zero-gravity video of her own from 2007, complete with lyrics from Perry’s own song Firework sarcastically playing over it.

Neither Perry nor Miley has responded publicly to Trace’s comments. But the internet, once again, has put Katy Perry at the center of a media storm — and this time, the criticism isn’t coming from strangers. It’s personal.
