Selena Gomez Jokes About Having Martin Short and Steve Martin Officiate Her Wedding — and Reveals Her One Big Demand

Selena Gomez playfully entertained the idea of having her Only Murders in the Building co-stars, comedy legends Martin Short and Steve Martin, officiate her future wedding — but not without one non-negotiable condition.

During a recent interview promoting the hit Hulu series, Gomez was asked about the possibility of Short and Martin taking on ceremonial duties if she were to tie the knot.

“Oh my God, can you imagine?” Gomez laughed. “I would actually love it — but only if they promise not to turn it into a full comedy routine. I need at least some part of the ceremony to be serious!”

The 31-year-old singer-actress went on to reveal her one firm wedding day demand: “No improv during the vows. None. I want to actually get married, not be part of an unscripted Steve and Marty show.”

Her co-stars seemed delighted by the idea when later asked about it.

“Selena knows we’d take the responsibility very seriously,” Martin joked, before adding with perfect comedic timing: “For at least the first 90 seconds.”

Short, ever the showman, already had ideas: “I see it as a three-act structure. Act One: The romance. Act Two: The cold feet. Act Three: Open bar.”

Gomez’s wedding musings come as:

  • Only Murders prepares for its fourth season
  • She continues dating music producer Benny Blanco
  • The show’s trio maintains their off-screen friendship

While no real wedding plans appear imminent, fans are already fantasizing about what a Martin/Short-officiated Gomez ceremony might look like — hopefully with Meryl Streep (another OMITB alum) giving a toast.
