Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Make First Joint Appearance at Sundance Film Festival
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped out together at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, marking their first public appearance as a couple since the Duke of Sussex’s emotional courtroom testimony in London earlier this month.
On Saturday, Jan. 24, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended a special screening of their latest documentary, Cookie Queens, ahead of its official premiere at the festival. The appearance also marked the couple’s debut at Sundance, drawing attention from festivalgoers and media alike.

The documentary follows four Girl Scouts as they navigate the challenges and triumphs of the iconic cookie-selling season, offering a heartfelt look at ambition, teamwork, and coming of age. During the event, Meghan and Harry posed for photographs with Amy Redford, daughter of the late filmmaker and Sundance founder Robert Redford.
Harry, 41, and Meghan, 44, serve as executive producers on the 91-minute film, which is screening in Sundance’s Family Matinee category. Cookie Queens was directed by Alysa Nahmias and produced through a collaboration between Archewell Productions, Beautiful Stories, and AJNA Films.
The project holds special significance for Meghan, who was a Girl Scout while growing up in California, with her mother acting as her troop leader. She has previously spoken about how those early experiences shaped her entrepreneurial mindset. In a 2025 Instagram post promoting her Lemonada Media podcast Confessions of a Female Founder, Meghan reflected on her childhood, writing that “being an entrepreneur can start young,” alongside throwback photos of herself selling cookies.
The couple’s Sundance appearance came just days after Prince Harry returned to London for the opening phase of his final lawsuit against Associated Newspapers Limited, the publisher of the Daily Mail and The Mail on Sunday. Harry is one of several high-profile claimants, alongside figures such as Elizabeth Hurley and Elton John, who allege unlawful information gathering by the media group. The publisher has denied the claims.

During testimony on Jan. 21, Harry spoke candidly and with visible emotion about the personal toll the long-running legal battles and intense media scrutiny have taken on his family. At one point, his voice reportedly faltered as he described the impact on Meghan, saying the ongoing attacks had made her life “an absolute misery.”
The Sussexes’ involvement in Cookie Queens was first announced in December 2025, with the Sundance premiere representing their latest professional milestone. The appearance signals a renewed public presence for the couple as they continue to balance legal challenges with creative projects focused on storytelling and social impact.
