Mariah Carey Concert in Pittsburgh Suddenly Canceled: Everything We Know
|Singer Mariah Carey’s Wednesday evening concert at Pittsburgh’s PPG Paints Arena has been abruptly canceled after the artist announced she has the flu.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Carey apologized to fans for the last-minute cancellation. The post was shared at around 4 p.m. ET nearly three and a half hours before the concert was scheduled to begin, at 7:30 p.m. ET. An ABC News local affiliate reported that concertgoers did not find out about the cancellation until around 3:30 p.m. ET.
Carey wrote, “Pittsburgh, I am sorry to say, I’ve come down with the flu. It breaks my heart that I unfortunately have to cancel tonight’s show. I love you all so much.” The concert was to be one of the final shows of her Christmas Time Tour.
How Can I Get a Refund if I Bought Tickets?
The PPG Paints Arena responded to concertgoers’ questions about refunds and wrote briefly on its website and X account: “Tonight’s show with Mariah Carey has been cancelled. Fans will receive an email with refund options. If you do not receive an email, please contact your point of purchase.”
Ticket holders are usually entitled to a full refund when a performer cancels a concert.
When Is Carey’s Next Performance?
As of Wednesday, Carey’s next scheduled performance is on Friday at Newark, New Jersey’s Prudential Center.
Her Christmas Time Tour, which started on November 6, will end on December 17 with a performance at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
The tour celebrated the 30th anniversary of her album Merry Christmas, which includes her iconic song “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
The song, which is often heard throughout the holiday season, bumped up to No. 1 spot on Billboard‘s Hot 100 this week. It topped the chart with 38 million streams and 24 million radio airplay audience impressions, according to Luminate.
Last week, it held the 10th spot. The song has spent 68 weeks on Billboard‘s chart. Carey, now 55, was 25 when the album was released.
Since November, Carey has performed across the U.S., with stops in 14 states and the District of Columbia. Earlier this month, she performed at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center.
In the new year, she will return to Las Vegas to finish up her residency, titled “The Celebration of Mimi,” which will end in February 2025.
