Homeowner Shoots Teenage Suspect During Burglary Attempt at Luxury Los Angeles Hom
A Los Angeles homeowner shot a teenage burglary suspect early Tuesday morning after two intruders allegedly forced their way into a multimillion-dollar home in Studio City, according to police.
The incident occurred around 4 a.m. at a residence on Laurelcrest Drive, a property valued at approximately $2.4 million. Authorities say the homeowner confronted the suspects as they attempted to break in and opened fire, striking one of them.

Both suspects fled the scene in a black Chevy Traverse, NBC Los Angeles reported. Shortly afterward, a 16-year-old with a gunshot wound was dropped off at a nearby hospital. Police believe the injured teen may be connected to the burglary attempt.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that no one inside the home was injured. It remains unclear whether the homeowner will face charges for discharging a firearm, as the investigation is ongoing.

Detectives are canvassing the neighborhood and asking residents to review security camera footage from the area around the time of the shooting. Authorities are also checking local hospitals for anyone else who may have sought treatment for gunshot wounds related to the incident.
Rising Anxiety Over Targeted Home Burglaries
While overall burglary rates in Los Angeles declined significantly in 2025 compared to previous years, law enforcement officials say residents — particularly in affluent neighborhoods — continue to face risks from organized and technologically savvy burglary crews.

High-end areas of the San Fernando Valley, including Studio City, have been frequent targets due to luxury homes, predictable routines, and sophisticated surveillance techniques used by criminal groups.
Police say the investigation remains active and urge anyone with information or video evidence to come forward.
