Henry Cavill Wields the Sword in Chad Stahelski’s $100M ‘Highlander’ Reboot

After years of swirling rumors and stalled attempts, the Highlander reboot is finally forging ahead — and it’s bringing some serious firepower. Henry Cavill has officially signed on to play Connor MacLeod, the immortal Scottish warrior, in a new adaptation directed by John Wick mastermind Chad Stahelski. With a budget reportedly exceeding $100 million, this is no small-scale revival; it’s a full-blown resurrection of a cult classic.

Stahelski, known for his kinetic action sequences and world-building prowess, has been attached to the project for several years. He’s described the reboot as “John Wick with swords,” promising a gritty, visceral take on the age-old battle between immortals. The film aims to honor the original 1986 movie while introducing the lore to a new generation.

Filming is slated to begin in May 2025, with a targeted release in 2026. The production will feature music by Queen, maintaining a connection to the original film’s iconic soundtrack.

This reboot marks a significant step in expanding the Highlander universe, with Stahelski also appointed to oversee the franchise’s development across film, television, and other media platforms.
