Hayden Christensen Confirms Return as Anakin Skywalker for ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2: “Anakin Will Be Back”

Hayden Christensen is officially stepping back into the Star Wars galaxy. The actor confirmed during Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo that he will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker in Season 2 of Ahsoka. His announcement came as a surprise appearance during a panel that featured Rosario Dawson, Dave Filoni, and Jon Favreau.

Christensen kept his remarks brief, joining the panel on stage and waiting until the end of the conversation to drop the news: “There’s not much I can share, but Anakin will be back for season two,” he said.

He first portrayed Anakin Skywalker in Attack of the Clones (2002) and Revenge of the Sith (2005), later returning to the character in both Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka Season 1. His reappearance in Ahsoka was especially significant, as it showed Anakin through the lens of Ahsoka Tano’s journey — not as the central figure of the saga, but as a presence shaping her past and growth.

During the event, Dave Filoni clarified that the return of Anakin won’t rewrite anything about his original arc. “Anakin’s story was already told. George did that,” Filoni said. “What George did is what he wanted and it’s perfect. The story I’m telling is about Ahsoka.”

Filoni emphasized that Anakin’s presence in the series serves a purpose within Ahsoka’s development and isn’t intended to retcon any established canon. “I’m very careful in what I’m doing [so] that I’m not changing or adjusting anything that George did.”

With Season 2 in development, Christensen’s return adds another layer of continuity to the franchise — and brings more emotional weight to the evolving relationship between master and former apprentice.
