She stepped away from her full-time position in 2021 to concentrate on her teaching career. At Thompson High School in Alabaster, she headed the broadcast journalism program. In 2024, she was honored as Advisor of the Year by the Alabama Scholastic Press Association, and her students bagged top broadcast accolades.

Despite transitioning away from daily news, Chambers remained linked to the world of sports media. In December 2023, she assisted in covering the Super 7 Championships at Bryant-Denny Stadium. She posted photos from the event and described the three-day coverage as a gratifying experience.

In 2025, she resumed her association with WBRC as a freelance contributor during the football season. At the time of her untimely death, Chambers was employed in corporate communications at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama.
