Ellen Pompeo Says Her 10-Year-Old Daughter Can’t Watch ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ — and It Has Nothing to Do With the Plot

Ellen Pompeo might’ve spent 19 seasons saving lives on Grey’s Anatomy, but she’s not about to let her 10-year-old daughter watch her doing it in a tank top and fake hospital sex scene.

Even though her daughter Sienna’s classmates have all apparently watched the show, Pompeo made it clear during a recent interview that her own kid isn’t getting a front row seat to “young Meredith Grey” just yet. Not because of violence. Not because of the medical stuff. But because she doesn’t want her daughter seeing her on TV in her underwear.

And she’s not budging.

“She’s not ready,” Pompeo said. “I don’t want my daughter to see me in my underwear on television just yet.” That simple. That blunt. No overexplaining. Just a mom protecting her kid’s image of her. “But all her classmates have [seen it], so that makes for great conversation at pick-up,” she added, clearly not thrilled.

Pompeo’s 15-year-old daughter Stella has seen the show. But Sienna? Not now. Maybe not anytime soon. And that’s fine with her. Pompeo’s also said in the past she’s “super intense” as a parent — the kind who shows up, sets limits, and doesn’t feel the need to cave just because everyone else’s kid gets to do something.

Even if the world sees her as Dr. Grey, to her kids she’s just mom. And mom says no.
