Dave Coulier Says He’s in Remission After Tongue Cancer Diagnosis: “What a Journey This Has Been”
Dave Coulier is celebrating a major health milestone.
The Full House star revealed he is officially in remission following treatment for tongue cancer, nearly one year after successfully beating Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The 66-year-old actor shared the update during an emotional appearance on Good Morning America.
“It’s definitely been a roller coaster,” Coulier said. “I’m in remission from both cancers. And what a journey this has been.”

A Second Cancer Diagnosis After Lymphoma
Coulier explained that doctors discovered the tongue cancer — P16 squamous carcinoma, a form of head and neck cancer — during a routine checkup and PET scan. The cancer appeared as a flare-up at the base of his tongue and was determined to be completely unrelated to his earlier lymphoma diagnosis.
Doctors reassured Coulier that his prognosis was strong, with a 90% curability rate, a far more optimistic outlook than his previous battle. He completed 35 rounds of radiation, finishing treatment on December 31.
“Cancer Is Always in the Rearview Mirror”
Although he’s now cancer-free, Coulier admitted the experience has permanently changed how he views his health.
“Even in remission, I feel like cancer is always there in the rearview mirror,” he said, adding that the experience has motivated him to encourage others to prioritize regular medical screenings.
“I never wanted to be the poster boy for cancer,” Coulier told host Robin Roberts. “But if sharing my story gets people to talk to their doctors, get mammograms, prostate exams — that matters.”

Support From Loved Ones and John Stamos
Throughout his treatment, Coulier leaned heavily on the support of his wife, Melissa Bring, as well as longtime friend and Full House co-star John Stamos.
Coulier shared a lighthearted moment that helped lift his spirits during a difficult time.
“John flew to Michigan to visit me and showed up wearing a bald cap,” Coulier said. “When I saw him, I dropped to the floor laughing.”
The visit took an unexpected turn when Stamos caught COVID, forcing the two friends to quarantine separately.
“We were like two fifth graders sitting in the hallway, talking on walkie-talkies,” Coulier joked. “Very mature behavior.”

His message to fans is simple but urgent: don’t ignore your health — early detection saves lives.
