Country Star Riley Green Shares His Plans for Family, But Not As Big As Thomas Rhett’s: ‘I’m Not After A Full Sports Team’

Riley Green, a country music sensation, has revealed his keenness to become a father in the future, but he insists on keeping his family on the smaller side. The 37-year-old artist expressed his desire for a small family in a recent interaction with Audacy’s Rob + Holly. The topic came up when he referred to his friend and fellow country star, Thomas Rhett, with whom he collaborated on the song ‘Half Of Me’.

Rhett and his wife, Lauren Akins, are parents to four girls and are expecting another addition to their family. When asked if Green had the same aspirations, referencing Rhett’s large family, Green replied, ‘I don’t know how they manage it. It seems insane to me’. Green clarified that while he absolutely loves children, he doesn’t dream of having a big family like Rhett’s. He humorously said, ‘I don’t want a basketball team, just a few little ones to spend time with’.

Green is very much aware of Rhett’s expanding family and even shared an anecdote that highlighted its size. ‘Last summer, he gave me a ring while I was at the beach. He wanted to take a few of his girls fishing and asked me to arrange a boat. I contacted him and told him the boat was ready but got no reply’, Green said.

According to Green, Rhett called him back after a week and said, ‘You don’t understand. I have many kids.’ Green replied to Rob and Holly, ‘I do understand that, but you asked me to arrange a fishing trip.’ Green also revealed that his sister is a mother of three and spends most of her time at their sports events, a lifestyle he doesn’t desire. ‘My sister Lindy has three kids, and they’re always playing sports. She spends most of her time driving to their games. I have no interest in that.’

Green’s romantic life, which might someday lead to his own family, has been the subject of much speculation in the country music fandom. When asked if the attention bothered him, Green, a native of Alabama, claimed that it wasn’t frustrating but indeed strange. He doesn’t mind the curiosity, however, as long as it brings new fans to his music.

Green said, ‘My take on it is that anything that directs people to my music or helps them know more about me is probably beneficial. Just about anything, I guess.’ Over the past year, there’s been a strange interest in my personal life. Without me saying or doing anything, they come up with all these theories… It’s entertaining for me to observe, and my friends and family also get a kick out of these speculations about who I’m dating or what I’m up to. And if it helps someone discover my music, I guess it’s all right.’
