Country Music Star Arrested Over the Weekend, Faces Up to 6 Years in Prison
|Country Star Jamey Johnson Arrested in Tennessee for Drug Possession and Speeding
Country music star Jamey Johnson, 49, was arrested on Nov. 17 near Nashville, Tennessee, for speeding and drug possession, according to multiple reports. The singer, who recently released his first album in years, Midnight Gasoline, was taken into custody in Williamson County with a bond set at $500,000.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed the arrest, stating the incident remains under investigation. Johnson faces charges under a Tennessee law that classifies possession of between half an ounce and 10 pounds of marijuana as a Class E felony. This offense carries a potential sentence of one to six years in prison and up to a $5,000 fine.
Johnson is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 6, 2025. Despite the arrest, he performed at the CMAs just days later. While a lengthy prison sentence seems unlikely, the case has drawn considerable attention and will be closely followed.
