Chrissy Metz, 45, Looks Noticeably Different After Quietly Changing Her Mind About One Treatment
The actress, who previously dismissed weight-loss medication, has experienced notable changes. Now in her 40s, she claims it has diminished her ‘food noise,’ enhanced her mobility, and enabled her to perform in eight Broadway shows weekly.
Chrissy Metz is sharing her reasons for a change of heart regarding medication after years of dieting and battling weight issues, with new photos reflecting a visible shift in her appearance.
In August 2026, the ‘This Is Us’ star disclosed that she has started a GLP-1 treatment, following extensive consideration over its suitability for her. This decision came after years of exploring other options without achieving her desired outcomes.
In an interview with People, Metz stated, ‘I just wanted to take care of myself.’ At 45, she acknowledged that her health concerns were becoming increasingly pressing.
‘I’m not getting any younger,’ she remarked. ‘I’m approaching perimenopause, and there have been obesity issues in my family, particularly with my father. I felt like I had tried countless methods, from diets to therapy, and nothing truly worked for me.’

Initially hesitant about the treatment, she recalled, ‘I thought, I’m not taking this medication. I don’t want to do this. It’s not going to work for me.’ However, upon starting, her experience turned out to be much more favorable than she anticipated.
‘It’s been fantastic!’ Metz exclaimed. She mentioned that the treatment has improved her ability to move freely, alleviated joint pain and inflammation, and made it simpler to meet the physical demands of her role as Angélique in Broadway’s ‘& Juliet.’
Her positive medical results provided further motivation to continue. Metz explained that her blood work has shown improvement, and she is now dedicated to making health-conscious choices without letting the scale dictate her progress.
‘I realize this isn’t a miracle solution, and I need to focus on additional changes. So, I’ve been training with a coach and building muscle,’ she shared, emphasizing her intention to measure progress by her well-being rather than a specific weight.
‘I simply want to feel strong and not let my day be ruined by the scale showing a few extra pounds than I expect,’ she added.
Metz anticipates facing public scrutiny regarding her body decisions. ‘Listen, when it comes to me, everyone has their judgments,’ she joked.
She mentioned that while people questioned her before she began treatment, she feels less affected by such opinions now. ‘They don’t play a role in my life. They aren’t part of my medical records or the hereditary issues my family faces,’ she stated.

This reinforces her perspective that the choice is solely hers: ‘My life is mine, and I must do what’s best for me. This includes ignoring negative comments and surrounding myself with positive and kind individuals. I can’t engage with anything that brings me down.’
During a recent guest appearance on ‘TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle,’ Metz elaborated on one significant transformation from her treatment.
She explained that she recognized the phrase ‘food noise’ only after realizing how much mental energy food used to consume in her life. ‘You constantly think about meals, like lunch, but now it’s much quieter,’ she explained.
This realization became even more pronounced during a trip to Italy with friends. ‘I was not fixated on food, but rather present with my friends and enjoying the surroundings, which was a new experience for me,’ Metz recounted.
Metz’s concerns about her weight began at a young age, as she revealed during the interview that she struggled with weight issues since she was 9 and had joined Weight Watchers at 11.
Her current Broadway commitments have also provided a fresh perspective on her physical capabilities as compared to six months prior.
‘Honestly, I doubt I would have been able to dash around a Broadway stage for eight shows a week six months ago without the benefits of this medication,’ she remarked.
The fast-paced demands of the production have made her feel more physically capable, pushing her further than she has experienced in previous roles.
‘This is the toughest role I’ve ever taken on, yet it brings me the greatest joy,’ she shared. Her emphasis on building strength began prior to her public announcement about using GLP-1.
In an April 2025 interview with the Daily Mail, Metz indicated that she had become more dedicated to weight lifting and strength training, which she noted has always been her preferred form of exercise over running.
Her motivation also stems from worries about how aging would affect her body. ‘I want to age gracefully and remain strong,’ Metz stated.
At that time, she had not revealed her use of GLP-1 and instead highlighted the importance of keeping medication choices private. ‘I believe in destigmatizing any health issue,’ she remarked, stressing that individuals should determine what is best for their bodies.
Reports indicate that Metz has previously shed around 100 pounds after facing a period of depression that led to a significant weight gain.
After experiencing a panic attack at 30, she adopted a daily routine of consuming 2,000 calories and walking for 20 minutes, managing to lose the weight in under five months.
Her current weight loss linked to GLP-1 treatment is a different statistic. Ro, the digital health company Metz is collaborating with, states on its site that she has lost 63 pounds while utilizing GLP-1s.
Metz has also acknowledged the practical assistance offered by her partnership. ‘I was thrilled that the medication is delivered to your home, and the healthcare team really keeps in touch with you. It’s often challenging to get a doctor on the phone!’ she remarked.
As her weight loss has become increasingly apparent, social media users have begun to compare her current look with older images.
On a Facebook Reel, one user commented, ‘Good for her! Anything that enhances your health is wonderful. She looks fabulous. She’s amazing. Congrats and all the best [sic].’
Another commented, ‘She never even said how it affected her weight. I’m happy she’s managed her inflammation, but I’m curious if she’s also losing weight??’ A different user remarked, ‘Looking forward to seeing your final results. You are a beautiful woman.’
In another Facebook post, one individual noted, ‘You can see a change from a few years ago. Slow and steady wins the race.’
Another commenter added, ‘Definitely noticed a difference; imagine losing 100 pounds and how amazing that must feel! I’m unsure how that works with loose skin these days, but it seems Jelly Roll lost weight along with the excess skin [sic]??? 🤔’
A different user expressed, ‘Good for her! That’s incredible.’ Images from various phases of Metz’s career illustrate the evolution of her appearance, especially the latest photos that sparked discourse around her weight loss.

The images chronicle how the actress’s looks have evolved over time, while her statements prioritize health, strength, and daily well-being. Chrissy Metz, however, stresses that she will not define her success by a single number. ‘I’m just an ordinary girl doing my best,’ she expressed.
