Glover’s distinctive portrayal of the quietly menacing Mr. Wint—one half of the iconic hitman duo Wint and Kidd opposite Putter Smith—remains one of the most memorable villain performances in the Bond franchise. With his gaunt features, unsettling smile, and penchant for poetic death threats, Glover created a villain who was both bizarre and genuinely frightening. The role became so iconic that the character was later referenced in the 2021 Bond film No Time to Die.

Beyond Bond, Glover enjoyed a prolific six-decade career spanning over 100 film and television credits. He brought his signature intensity to projects ranging from Chinatown (1974) to The Last Picture Show (1971), often playing eccentric criminals or authority figures. His later work included memorable turns in The Hills Have Eyes Part II (1984) and David Lynch’s Twin Peaks (1990).

Fellow actors and filmmakers paid tribute to Glover’s unique artistry. “Bruce could say more with a raised eyebrow than most actors could with a monologue,” said Diamonds Are Forever co-star Jill St. John. Director Joe Dante, who worked with Glover on Explorers (1985), recalled, “He had this incredible ability to be terrifying and hilarious in the same moment—a rare gift.”

Glover is survived by his son Crispin, the acclaimed actor known for Back to the Future and Charlie’s Angels, and daughter Lisa. In accordance with his wishes, no public memorial is planned. His legacy endures through his indelible contributions to cinema’s rogue’s gallery of unforgettable villains.
