Blake Shelton is clearing up rumors that he and Gwen Stefani are calling it quits.
Setting the Record Straight
While co-hosting Country Countdown USA on Saturday, January 10th, the 49-year-old country singer responded to rumors he’s been seeing since October that he and the “Hollaback Girl” singer, 56, whom he wed in 2021, are on their way to getting a divorce.
“I started noticing these articles popping up about ‘Blake and Gwen, they’re split up,'” Shelton said. “‘They’re not even seeing each other anymore, they’re going through a divorce.’ And then, a week later, a picture comes out of us walking out of the grocery store… ‘Oh, they’re back together again!'”
“And another week goes by and we’re not seen at the grocery store… ‘They’re divorcing,'” he continued. “I see pictures of Gwen and I on social media that I really go, ‘That looks so real.’ But I know I don’t even own that shirt or, ‘Whose car is that?'”

Don’t Believe Everything You Read
The “God’s Country” singer emphasized that he doesn’t “believe anything anymore that I see on the internet.”
As for how Shelton and Stefani have kept their relationship strong over the years? In May, Shelton told PEOPLE that, by the time he and Stefani were celebrating their 10th anniversary since they started dating, it felt like barely any time had passed.
“It honestly does [feel like time is flying by],” he said at the time. “Some of the things that we talk about, we’re to the point in our relationship that it’s like, ‘Oh, remember what happened…’ and you realize, ‘Oh my God, that was 8 years ago!’ It’s like, how did this happen so quickly?”
The Key to Their Happiness
While acknowledging that “10 years is a long time,” Shelton also reflected on how their relationship never stopped feeling “new” to him.
“I feel like that might be the key to happiness, is that it feels just as exciting and new and happy,” he explained.
For further proof that their sweet bond is still strong, Stefani rang in 2026 by sharing a video of the pair sharing a New Year’s kiss on her Instagram Stories.
“Last few hours of 2025,” she wrote over a video of them sporting festive hats and smiling. Soon after, she posted another clip of herself looking up at Shelton, who caressed her face with his hand as they kissed.
A Love Story That Started on ‘The Voice’
Shelton and Stefani’s relationship began in 2014 when they met as coaches on NBC’s The Voice. Both were going through divorces at the time—Shelton from Miranda Lambert and Stefani from Gavin Rossdale—and found comfort and connection with each other.
Their romance blossomed publicly over the following years, with fans delighting in their chemistry both on and off the show. The couple became engaged in October 2020 and tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch in July 2021.

Navigating Life in the Spotlight
A source close to Stefani previously told PEOPLE that the couple is “juggling demanding schedules” but remains as “solid” as ever. This statement addresses the reality that both artists maintain active careers, which can sometimes mean time apart—a fact that tabloids often misinterpret as trouble in paradise.
Shelton’s frustration with the cyclical nature of divorce rumors is understandable. The pattern he described—spotted together means they’re “back together,” not spotted means they’re “divorcing”—reflects how celebrity gossip often operates on minimal or fabricated evidence.
The Problem with AI and Fake Images
Shelton’s comment about seeing photos of himself in shirts he doesn’t own or cars he doesn’t recognize highlights a growing problem in the digital age: AI-generated and manipulated images that look increasingly realistic. These fake images can fuel false narratives and create confusion about celebrities’ actual lives.
His statement that he doesn’t “believe anything anymore that I see on the internet” resonates with a broader cultural moment where determining what’s real online has become increasingly difficult.
Still Going Strong
Despite the persistent rumors, all evidence points to Shelton and Stefani’s relationship remaining strong. Their New Year’s Eve celebration, documented on Stefani’s Instagram Stories, showed the couple affectionate and happy as they welcomed 2026 together.
Shelton’s candid remarks about how quickly their 10 years together have passed, while still feeling “exciting and new,” suggest a relationship that has maintained its spark while also deepening over time.
Blended Family Success
Beyond their romantic relationship, Shelton has embraced his role as a stepfather to Stefani’s three sons—Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo—from her previous marriage to Rossdale. The couple has spoken openly about their blended family dynamics and how important the boys are to both of them.
Looking Ahead
As Shelton continues his music career and Stefani balances her various projects, including her Las Vegas residency and fashion ventures, the couple appears committed to making their relationship work despite demanding schedules and constant public scrutiny.
Shelton’s decision to directly address the divorce rumors on his radio show demonstrates a willingness to set the record straight when misinformation becomes too pervasive. Rather than ignoring the gossip, he’s using his platform to clarify the reality: he and Stefani are happily married, and tabloid speculation doesn’t reflect the truth of their relationship.
For fans who have followed the couple’s journey from The Voice coaches to husband and wife, Shelton’s remarks provide reassurance that one of country music and pop music’s most beloved couples is still going strong—regardless of what the rumor mill suggests.
