“Living in the public eye creates complications for your children that you can’t entirely shield them from,” Affleck explained during the conversation. “Our priority is creating space for them to discover their own interests and ambitions.”
No Pressure to Follow Famous Footsteps
The actor made his position crystal clear regarding his three children—twenty-year-old Violet, seventeen-year-old Seraphina, and thirteen-year-old Samuel. Rather than encouraging them toward entertainment careers, he and Garner have chosen a completely different strategy.
“We think they’re exceptional, talented, and remarkable individuals who we absolutely adore,” the performer stated. “Steering them toward acting isn’t something we’re interested in doing.” He added with characteristic humor that he actually hopes “they choose more meaningful pursuits than performing.”

While the two younger siblings remain focused on their education, Violet has already identified her calling. Currently pursuing higher education at one of America’s most prestigious universities, she’s become increasingly involved in public health advocacy.
In a notable September appearance before international leaders, the college student delivered compelling remarks about pandemic-related public health measures. Her speech emphasized the critical importance of air quality standards and protective health protocols in the post-pandemic world.
“Authority figures constantly remind us we represent tomorrow,” she told the assembled delegates. “Yet regarding this ongoing health crisis, our present circumstances are being compromised before our eyes.”
She continued with a powerful call to action, expressing her conviction that society must recognize clean air as a fundamental human right, just as access to clean water is universally accepted.

Both parents, whose marriage lasted from 2005 through 2018, have expressed tremendous pride in their daughter’s initiative and commitment to important causes.
