Bella Thorne Accuses Mickey Rourke of On-Set Misconduct: “One of the Worst Experiences of My Life”
|Bella Thorne has come forward with disturbing allegations against actor Mickey Rourke, describing her time working with him as “one of the all-time worst experiences” of her career. In a series of explosive social media posts, Thorne accused Rourke of repeated misconduct during the filming of their 2020 thriller Girl.
Thorne did not initially name the film, but the two actors co-starred in Girl, in which she played the title role opposite Rourke’s small-town sheriff. Her posts, however, made clear that the experience left lasting emotional and physical scars.
“This fucking dude. GROSS,” she wrote. “In a scene where I’m on my knees with my hands zip-tied around my back… he’s supposed to take a metal grinder to my knee cap and instead he used it on my genitals through my jeans. Hitting them over and over again. I had bruises on my pelvic bone.”
She went on to detail additional alleged mistreatment, including Rourke revving his engine to blast her with dirt during a scene, and forcing her to enter his trailer alone to convince him to film. “I didn’t wanna do it. I was uncomfortable,” she said. “But I did what I was asked to do and what was best for the movie.”
According to Thorne, Rourke refused to speak to the director or producers directly, instead demanding she act as the intermediary. “I had to beg,” she recalled. “Alone. In his trailer.”
The accusations arrive just days after Rourke sparked backlash on Celebrity Big Brother UK for making a homophobic remark about singer JoJo Siwa. That incident resulted in a formal warning from producers after Rourke was heard saying he planned to “vote the lesbian out.”
Rourke’s representative has responded to Thorne’s allegations, saying he “adamantly denies any intentional misconduct,” and was unaware of any concerns during filming. The statement added that Rourke will not be making further public comments but is “willing to cooperate with any appropriate inquiry.”
Despite the experience, Thorne praised the rest of the Girl team for their dedication and hard work, clarifying that Rourke’s behavior didn’t diminish what the cast and crew achieved. “Everyone worked HARD—literal blood, sweat, and tears to make that vision,” she said. “I’m really proud of everyone and the work that was done.”
As conversations about abuse and accountability continue across the industry, Thorne’s raw and detailed account adds another powerful voice to the ongoing push for safer sets and greater respect for actors.
