Amanda Seyfried Reflects on Turning Down Gamora Role in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’

Amanda Seyfried recently opened up about her decision to decline the role of Gamora in Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy.” At the time, she was apprehensive about the film’s potential success, particularly due to its unconventional characters like a talking tree and raccoon. Seyfried feared that if the movie failed, it could negatively impact her career.

Additionally, the prospect of undergoing extensive makeup to portray the green-skinned alien and the commitment to filming in London for six months were significant factors in her decision. Instead, she chose to work on Seth MacFarlane’s “A Million Ways to Die in the West.”

The role of Gamora eventually went to Zoe Saldaña, who has since become a central figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite the film’s success, Seyfried has expressed no regrets about her choice, emphasizing that it was the right decision for her at that time.
