Prince Harry wanted heart-to-heart with Charles, but it was blocked over fears they would “never get rid of him”
|Prince Harry wanted to stay with his father after flying to the UK for a visit in the wake of the latter’s cancer diagnosis, only to be denied by King Charles’ aides, according to reports.
RadarOnline speculate that the Prince – who flew to England to see his father earlier this month for the first face-to-face meeting between the pair since the death of Queen Elizabeth – wanted the opportunity to have a heart to heart with Charles.
Instead, the meeting between father and son was cut short after just 30 minutes, with Harry then left to find accommodation for the night in London after Charles flew by helicopter to the royal estate of Sandringham.
As per reports, Harry had flown to the UK with the intention of spending time with his dad, but upon arrival in the country was advised to visit Clarence House (Charles’ London residence).
According to some sources, the Prince was of a mind to follow Charles to Sandringham and spend a few days there, but the King’s aides were worried that the visit would then turn into a prolonged stay.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “The fear was that if he went to Sandringham they would never get rid of him.”
Royal fans around the world were left shocked earlier this month when it was announced that King Charles had been diagnosed with cancer. The monarch was in hospital to undergo treatment on an enlarged prostate when doctors found the disease, though the Palace have not specified what cancer it is, nor what stage it is at.
Since his diagnosis it’s been reported that Charles has been traveling back and forth between London and the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, and was already scheduled to head to the latter destination when Harry made his intentions clear to fly from the US to England.
Charles is said to have personally informed his closest relatives of his cancer diagnosis before the news went public (Harry included) and it was after that talk that Harry decided to return to his homeland.
Upon arriving in London, however, he was told not to travel to Sandringham – where he wished to spend a few days with his father – and instead make his way to Charles’s London residence of Clarence House.
The aforementioned insider told The Sun: “Harry came over to see his father, expecting to go to Sandringham. But instead he was asked to be at Clarence House and was restricted to 30 minutes.”
After their brief meeting, Charles departed for Sandringham and Harry found a place to stay for the night. The Prince soon returned to the US, but The Sun say his efforts in the UK have not led to a thawing in the icy relations between he and the rest of the Royal Family.
