Taylor Swift is godmother to Ryan Reynolds’ three daughters
|Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively just confirmed that three of their four children have the fairest godmother of them all, leaving Cinderella in the dust.
In 2015, Taylor Swift and actor Blake Lively went Instagram official after the latter shared a post expressing her eternal love for the “Shake it Off” singer.
“Love my Canadian family almost as much as I love Taylor Lively. I mean Swift. Ok, FIIINE we can hyphenate our last names. Xo Blake Swift-Lively 4eva,” writes Lively, 37, in a now deleted post.
The former Gossip Girl star and Ryan Reynolds, whom she married in 2012, have a close friendship with Swift that has sparked a lot of public interest.
Over the past few years, images of the Free Guy star, Lively and the “Fortnight” singer have popped up, offering fans a glimpse into the extraordinary relationship shared between the three superstars, and the love Swift has for the couple’s four children: daughters James, 9, Inez, 8, and Betty, 5, and son Olin, born in February 2023.
In fact, James, only 3 at the time, can heard at the beginning of Swift’s song “Gorgeous,” a cameo that Lively admits turned her and Reynolds into “embarrassing” and proud “stage parents.”
The hype only intensified with Swift’s lyrical nod to the three older children in her 2020 song “Betty.” In May 2024, while she was on stage in Madrid for her Eras Tour, the Grammy Award winning singer singled out the kids, two who were excitedly dancing with their mom in the audience: “I have to say that on Folklore, some of my favorite characters are named James, Inez and Betty,” she told the audience.
Taking that same level of excitement to the Arrowhead Stadium in Missouri, Reynolds and Lively, the star of It Ends with Us, are frequently spotted with Swift, cheering on Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs.
In another heartwarming example of their bond, Reynolds – who turned 48 on October 23 – took to Instagram and expressed his awe over the “unimaginable work, care, talent and discipline” that Swift brings to the stage.
“It’s an athletic event and a collective cultural phenomenon. It’s gigantic but intimate,” Reynolds writes after her October 25th concert at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. “The only bummer is she can’t be in the audience to experience what everyone else sees and feels. To watch herself up there is something I wish she could know. But that isn’t physically possible and even if it were, you can’t just get tickets last minute.”
A few months before that post, the “Bad Blood” singer teased her fans with a social media post about Deadpool and Wolverine, a film starring Reynolds, “one of her best friends,” who happens to be her “godkid’s sperm donor.”
“Over the past few years, I have watched one of my best friends on this planet pour every bit of his heart, soul, sweat, time, energy, jokes, pain, joy, rebellion, darkness and magic into this film,” Taylor, 34, wrote alongside a group photo with director Shawn Levy, Blake Lively, Reynolds, and Hugh Jackman, who plays Wolverine.
“Shout out to Wade Wilson, aka my godkids’ sperm donor!” Swift adds, referencing Reynolds’ character in Deadpool and the kids the Marvel star shares with the star of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (2004).
But Swift’s role as godmother to the famous couple’s kids left many people scratching their heads as it had been not confirmed by the parents, who kept baby Olin’s gender and name a secret until the Deadpool and Wolverine premiere in July 2024, the same month Swift gushed over her friends on Instagram.
Finally, in mid-November 2024, The Proposal star had a chat with Deadline and discussed the post shared months before by the “Cruel Summer” singer.
“I’m going to need that on my gravestone, actually,” said Reynolds. “Yeah, that is kind of it. She is the godparent to my daughters. That was very sweet. Not just sweet, that was, like, you could probably quantify a box office based on Taylor just doing something like that.”
Imagine having Taylor Swift as your godmother? Those are super lucky children!
