The country music legend died at age 80 on August 25, 2026. Her nephew, Bryan Seaver, shared the news in an emotional video issued for the Parton and Owens family.
Bryan explained that Dolly had entrusted him with making the announcement years earlier. “This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago, before I fully absorbed it as a future reality,” he said. Having served as her head of security for more than 20 years—a position previously held by his father, Larry—he had imagined the burden of that day but said he had never truly understood it until it arrived.
