The tragic event occurred around 2:52 AM on a Tuesday in Ijamsville, Maryland. Emergency responders rushed to the site after receiving urgent calls, with deputies from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office arriving along with fire and rescue teams.

They found a single-vehicle accident off the road. Hottle was a passenger in a 1995 Honda Accord, alongside two others, when the car mistakenly veered off the road and crashed into a ditch.

A 19-year-old was driving at the time of the accident and suffered injuries that were not life-threatening. A third passenger in the vehicle opted not to receive medical attention at that moment.

In contrast, Hottle endured severe injuries that necessitated immediate transport to a trauma center. Investigators are currently determining the exact cause of the crash, but initial reports suggest that speeding may have been a factor.

In a heartfelt Facebook live stream using ASL, her father, Joshua Hottle, shared the heartbreaking news with family and friends.

He revealed that while his daughter was being transported, authorities reached out to inform him that her heart had stopped.

While medical staff made efforts to save her, she was declared dead shortly after arriving at the trauma center. It remains uncertain whether she passed away in the ambulance or upon arrival.

In the midst of this tragedy, Joshua expressed a surprising sentiment by forgiving the teenage driver involved in the collision.
