Florida Father Accused of Killing Ex-Wife and Two Daughters Before Taking His Own Life
Authorities in South Florida say a tragic family homicide has left four people dead, including two young children, in a case investigators believe was carried out by the children’s father.
The victims were identified as 46-year-old Melanie Hyer and her daughters, Savannah, 11, and Sienna, 8. Investigators say the girls’ father, 42-year-old Ryan Whiten, was also found dead inside the residence.

Deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office responded to the home in Doral after receiving a request for a welfare check. Upon arrival, officers discovered all four family members deceased.
According to investigators, evidence gathered during the investigation led detectives to conclude that Whiten fatally attacked Hyer and the two children before taking his own life. Authorities have not publicly disclosed a motive, and the investigation remains ongoing.
The deaths have shocked the local community, where Hyer was known as a successful real estate professional. Friends and neighbors described her as a devoted mother who was deeply involved in her daughters’ lives.

Court records indicate that Hyer and Whiten had previously been married and were co-parenting their daughters following their separation. Both had moved on with their personal lives after the end of their marriage.
Community members, local leaders, and school officials have expressed condolences to the family and those affected by the tragedy. Counseling and support services have been made available to students and residents impacted by the incident.
Law enforcement officials say additional details may be released as investigators continue reviewing evidence and conducting interviews related to the case.
