Pedro Pascal Blasts J.K. Rowling Over Anti-Trans Campaigns: “Heinous LOSER Behavior”
|Pedro Pascal is done staying quiet. The “Last of Us” and “The Mandalorian” star is publicly slamming J.K. Rowling over her continued anti-trans rhetoric and legal activism, calling her efforts “heinous LOSER behavior” and aligning himself with those calling for a full boycott of the “Harry Potter” franchise.
The actor left the fiery comment on an Instagram video posted by writer and activist Tariq Raouf, who was criticizing Rowling for backing U.K. legal efforts to define womanhood in ways that exclude trans women. “That’s Voldemort villain shit,” Raouf said. Pascal responded simply but sharply: “Awful disgusting SHIT is exactly right. Heinous LOSER behavior.”
Rowling, who’s continued to position herself at the center of global debates over gender identity and legal rights for trans people, has recently contributed to legal campaigns through the group For Women Scotland, which challenges legal recognition for trans women under the Equality Act.
Raouf’s video made the case for hitting Rowling where it hurts most — her brand — saying: “It has become our mission as the general public to make sure that every single thing that’s ‘Harry Potter’-related fails.” Pascal gave the post his public seal of approval, both liking and commenting.
This isn’t the first time Pascal has spoken out in defense of trans people. His younger sister, Lux Pascal, came out as a trans woman in 2021, and Pedro has stood by her with unwavering support ever since. “She is and has always been one of the most powerful people and personalities I’ve ever known,” he told Esquire. “My protective side is lethal, but I need her more than she needs me.”
His voice adds to a growing wave of backlash against Rowling from inside the entertainment industry. Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and Daniel Radcliffe — the core trio of the original Harry Potter film series — have all spoken against her views. So have other high-profile actors like “Bridgerton” breakout Nicola Coughlan.
Still, Rowling shows no sign of backing down. Her latest response? A smug Instagram post of herself with a drink and cigarette, captioned, “I love it when a plan comes together. #SupremeCourt #WomensRights.”
Pascal’s blistering reply, however, suggests that public pressure on Rowling’s brand may only be heating up — and he’s making it clear where he stands.
