Meghan Markle Explains Why Her Netflix Show Isn’t Filmed at Home: “That’s Not the Memory I Want for My Kids”
|In her new Netflix series With Love, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex hosts intimate brunches, bakes from scratch, and shares wellness-inspired home rituals. But despite the show’s cozy, lived-in vibe, it turns out the kitchen seen on screen doesn’t belong to her or Prince Harry. Instead, the entire series was filmed at a nearby farmhouse in Montecito, California — owned by their neighbors, Tom and Sherrie Cipolla.
At the Time100 Summit in New York, Meghan addressed the decision to keep the cameras away from her real home, and the reasoning was all about protecting her kids’ memories.
“When people say, ‘Why didn’t you [film in] your house?’ Well, I have kids coming home for their nap, and 80 people in the kitchen isn’t really the childhood memory I’d want for them to have,” Meghan said during a live conversation with Time CEO Jessica Sibley.
Meghan and Harry are parents to Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3 — and for Meghan, setting that boundary wasn’t just about privacy, but peace of mind. “We were really fortunate to find something close by,” she added, noting that prioritizing her family’s space is part of “how I take care of myself.”
With Love, Meghan has already been renewed for a second season, set to premiere this fall. Meghan revealed that the upcoming season will feature guest appearances from chef and humanitarian José Andrés, who recently partnered with the Sussexes to distribute aid to wildfire victims in Los Angeles.
Season 1 featured appearances from Mindy Kaling, Abigail Spencer, Roy Choi, and Delfina Blaquier — friends and collaborators who joined Meghan in sharing personal stories and lifestyle tips centered around joy, hospitality, and intentional living.
While the show may not take place inside the Sussexes’ home, Meghan’s personal philosophy clearly shapes every episode. From creating beautiful tablescapes to cooking for causes that matter, With Love, Meghan isn’t just about what’s on the plate — it’s about the care behind it.
