Amy Schumer Shares Positive Experience with Weight Loss Medication Mounjaro

Comedian and actress Amy Schumer, 43, recently opened up about her successful experience using the weight loss drug Mounjaro. In an Instagram video, Schumer candidly discussed her journey, highlighting the benefits she’s observed since starting the medication.

Schumer revealed that she had previously tried Wegovy three years ago but discontinued its use due to severe side effects, including persistent nausea and vomiting. She noted, “I was like puking, I couldn’t handle it. I don’t know if they’ve changed the formula, whatever.”

After consulting with healthcare professionals via a telehealth appointment, Schumer was prescribed Mounjaro, a medication primarily used for managing type 2 diabetes but also prescribed off-label for weight loss. She reported a markedly improved experience with Mounjaro, stating, “Mounjaro’s been great.”

In addition to Mounjaro, Schumer began hormone replacement therapy with estrogen and progesterone to address perimenopause symptoms. She credited this combination of treatments with alleviating her symptoms, leading to fuller hair, improved skin, increased energy, and an enhanced libido. Schumer humorously added, “I want to ‘get down’ more, if you know what I mean. I’m talking about sex.”

Schumer also highlighted the challenges associated with accessing Mounjaro, noting that insurance coverage is often limited to individuals with diabetes or severe obesity. She expressed gratitude towards Midi Health, the virtual care clinic that prescribed her medications, and disclosed that she has invested in the company alongside other notable figures, including Connie Britton and Tory Burch.

This isn’t the first time Schumer has been transparent about her weight loss journey. She previously shared that she lost 30 pounds using Ozempic but discontinued it due to debilitating side effects, including severe nausea and low energy. Schumer has been vocal about the importance of honesty regarding the use of weight loss medications, encouraging others to be forthcoming about their experiences.

By openly discussing her experiences with weight loss medications and hormone therapy, Schumer continues to advocate for transparency and informed decision-making in personal health journeys.
