96-year-old WWII Veteran Receives Christmas Surprise from Superstar Taylor Swift
Global sensation Taylor Swift left 96-year-old WWII veteran and dedicated Swiftie, Cyrus Porter, astounded with a surprise Christmas visit, during which she engaged in conversation and performed a song. Upon her entrance, she was greeted with stupendous applause, and after the excitement settled, she strummed her hit single “Shake It Off” on her acoustic guitar, leading to an uplifting, communal singalong.
Swift commenced the surprise by extending Christmas greetings to the family, and shared high fives with the children. She then turned her attention to Mr. Porter, saying, “My father shared a video of you expressing your desire to attend one of my concerts.
I’m not sure when my next tour will be, so I thought why not have a mini-concert right here, and I’m open to song requests.” The heartfelt interaction can be seen below.
During her visit, Swift, who was accompanied by her parents, had a heart-to-heart with Mr. Porter, where she shared that her grandfather, like him, was also a WWII veteran. An incredulous Mr. Porter exclaimed, “I can’t believe this,” and demonstrated his vitality at 96 by standing up and sharing a brief anecdote about his time in the war. Swift then grabbed her acoustic guitar again and performed a lively rendition of “Shake It Off”, prompting the younger members of the family to dance, while the others joined in the singing. The moment Swift met Mr. Porter can be seen below.
Chris Porter, a family member, recorded the event and bestowed high commendations on Swift, stating, “Taylor Swift demonstrated high moral values and character. She didn’t seek to be the center of attention upon entering the room. She seemed genuinely touched and grateful for our enthusiastic welcome, and even appeared humbled by our reception.” Watch Swift’s live performance of “Shake It Off” in the video below.
