Donald Trump Faces Backlash After Attacking the Kennedy Family Following the Death of JFK’s Granddaughter Tatiana Schlossberg
Trump Attacks the Kennedys as They Mourn a Tragic Loss Inside the Explosive Truth Social Posts
Donald Trump is facing renewed criticism after sharing controversial posts on Truth Social just hours after the tragic death of Tatiana Schlossberg, the granddaughter of President John F. Kennedy and daughter of Caroline Kennedy.
Tatiana Schlossberg, a writer and environmental advocate, died on Tuesday, December 30, at the age of 35, shortly after publicly revealing that she had been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. Her passing was confirmed by the JFK Library Foundation, which shared the news on behalf of her grieving family.

“Our beautiful Tatiana passed away this morning. She will always be in our hearts,” the family wrote, signing the message with the names of her husband, Dr. George Moran, their children Edwin and Josephine, and close relatives including Caroline Kennedy.
Trump Shares Posts Mocking the Kennedy Family
While Trump did not directly reference Tatiana’s death, his social media activity quickly drew attention. In a series of posts, the former president shared screenshots of supporters mocking the Kennedy family, focusing on their opposition to his controversial decision involving the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
The historic venue officially known as the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts was established in honor of JFK following his assassination in 1963. Trump recently announced plans to add his own name to the building, a move that has sparked widespread outrage.
One reposted message claimed the Kennedys had “neglected” the Kennedy Center, while another contrasted the family’s legacy with Trump’s self-proclaimed support for the arts.
Dispute Over the Kennedy Center Vote

The controversy intensified after White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that the Kennedy Center board had “voted unanimously” to rename the venue the “Trump–Kennedy Center.” The following day, signage reflecting the change was installed.
However, members of the Kennedy family and elected officials quickly disputed that claim.
Jack Schlossberg, Tatiana’s brother, stated that microphones were muted during the board call and that the vote was not unanimous. His account was echoed by Rep. Joyce Beatty of Ohio, an ex-officio board member, who said she was prevented from voicing her opposition.
“This was not unanimous. I was muted on the call and not allowed to speak,” Beatty wrote, calling the process censorship.
Kennedy Family Pushes Back Legally and Publicly
Other family members addressed the issue from a legal standpoint. Joe Kennedy III, grandson of Robert F. Kennedy, emphasized that the Kennedy Center is protected by federal law and cannot be renamed at will.
Meanwhile, as Trump’s posts circulated, the Kennedy family largely remained silent focusing instead on honoring Tatiana’s life and legacy.
Maria Shriver Pays Emotional Tribute
Among the few public responses was a heartfelt message from Maria Shriver, Caroline Kennedy’s cousin, who shared an emotional tribute mourning Tatiana’s passing.
“Tatiana loved life. She fought like hell to save it,” Shriver wrote, calling her loss devastating and praising the strength of Caroline Kennedy and the family.
Shriver also expressed a commitment to ensuring that Tatiana’s children would grow up knowing “what a courageous and beautiful spirit their mother was.”

A Moment of Mourning Overshadowed by Politics
As the Kennedy family continues to grieve, Trump’s online attacks have been widely criticized as poorly timed and deeply insensitive, reigniting debates over political decorum and respect during moments of national and personal loss.
The Kennedys have not responded directly to Trump’s latest remarks, choosing instead to honor Tatiana Schlossberg’s memory a life remembered for intelligence, compassion, and courage.
